RF23 Commentary: Beep. Beep. Beeeeeeeee!
Is The NAACP Dying?
To the public, it comes with great sadness that a once great group that was so important during the civil rights movement is once again ill. We all remember the illness which drained this great organization of it's fighting will. When summoned to muster up enough strength, it simply could not and was physically bankrupt. Now today, after many diet changes and attempts to exercise. This organization is suffering from some type of cancer that needs to be removed or death will surely come.
You know it's a shame that an organization as great as the NAACP, is in such shambles and still sittin' on the back of the bus. It's failure as a black civil rights organization to discuss and tackle issues that are plaquing the black community and total disconnect from today's problems is one of the reasons why this civil rights giant is probably dying. What this organization doesn't need is some blow hard like Mychal Massie, running up to it with a shovel ready to bury it. The organization is still needed, but it missed the opportunity to step up for change and succombed to a 60's activists mindset and let a man who could've walked them to that goal in Bruce Gordon. Julian Bond, has got to realize that he's approaching blacks with a dead ideology and needs to recognize that he needs a "new jack" type of community leadership to tackle the issues of not only Black America, but all Americans.
